What These Pages Do
The American Academy of Pediatrics identifies fine motor skill development as a core benefit of structured coloring for children ages 2 through 7, and the simple, rounded Squishmallow shapes throughout this collection make it especially well-suited to that age range.
A 2005 study in the Art Therapy Journal documented measurable reductions in anxiety following structured coloring sessions, and coloring a favorite plush character in a gentle Halloween costume gives a young fan an easy, comforting way to enjoy the holiday.
Squishmallows are a popular line of round, soft plush toys, and this collection reimagines them in classic Halloween costumes and scenes.
How to Color Squishmallow Halloween Pages Well
- Witch Squishmallow: a purple or black witch hat and dress over the character’s usual round shape keep the costume recognizable.
- Mummy Squishmallow: off-white or beige bandage wrapping, left mostly unshaded, gives the character its mummy costume.
- Pirate Squishmallow: a red bandana and a simple eye patch fit this costume well.
- Bella Squishmallow: keep her design soft and pastel to match the character’s usual coloring.
- Group scenes: vary each Squishmallow’s color slightly so every character stands out within the same picture.
