Let’s welcome the upcoming extraordinary phenomenon with our 16 unique Solar Eclipse coloring pages collection. These coloring pages allow children or enthusiasts to delve deeper into the intricate details of a solar eclipse.

April 8, 2024, is considered a day with a rare total solar eclipse in recent hundreds of years. This phenomenon occurs when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s light in some areas. The path will be through North America, Mexico, Canada, and the United States. You will be the luckiest person to witness this incredible scene with your eyes. The sky will be dark as if it were sunset or sunrise. The halo, the outer atmosphere of the Sun, will appear before your eyes.

Capturing the essence of this exciting event, we have designed coloring pages for children and adults to explore the miraculous of the eclipse while expressing their creativity. You’ll find realistic depictions of a total solar eclipse, where the moon completely covers the sun, revealing the corona. You can color the sun a fiery yellow or orange, the moon a cool gray, and the halo a bright white.

Some pages show the Earth, Moon, and Sun during the eclipse. You will choose blue for the Earth, green for the oceans and continents, and the Moon will be light gray. Some exciting and cute scenes are also illustrated, where everyone wears observation glasses, and even the animals do not miss this rare special event. If you’re looking for something more complex, you can choose detailed images of the corona and use different colors to create fiery and swirling effects.

Let your and your children’s creativity run wild by adding color to our black-and-white images of the Solar Eclipse. You can choose one or more favorite coloring pages. Downloading and printing images is completely free.

5 Wonderful Ideas We Can Create With Solar Eclipse Coloring Pages

Black and white images of the total solar eclipse are more than just used to color. They can also create engaging activities to teach children about scientific discovery and astronomy and even spark their creativity.

You can check out the craft and game ideas below to get the most out of coloring pages.

Design A Solar Eclipse Scene

This activity will be very interesting and suitable to organize in a classroom to teach children about astronomy. You will choose coloring pages with images of the Sun, Earth, and Moon. Then, color the details one by one to match the eclipse phenomenon.

The sun will probably be yellow, the moon black, and the Earth blue and continental green. Once you’re done coloring, you’ll cut the colored details out of the page. Prepare a white plastic plate as a backdrop.

You will arrange to paste colored images of the Earth and the sun in appropriate positions on the plastic plate. Please refer to the image below for easy visualization. As for the moon cutout, you must glue an ice cream stick at the back to create a handle.

Cut a straight line in the middle of the plastic disc to move the moon back and forth to create a total solar eclipse. You can even cut out crescent moons from other coloring pages and add them to the scene to represent the different stages of the eclipse.

Decorate An Eclipse Viewing Glass

You’ll start by cutting out the middle of the paper plate and leaving a rounded border around the edge. The next step is to print the eclipse coloring sheets and color them.

You’ll choose to paint the sun a vibrant orange or yellow and the moon gray or black to represent the eclipse. Cut out the colored sun and moon images individually. Then, use tape to attach the sun to the center of the paper right in the center of the circle.

The moon will be slightly overlapped with the sun to create the illusion of a solar eclipse. Take black cardboard and cut out a circle more significant than the sun’s diameter. This will make the observing lens for the eclipse glasses. Glue the black circle onto the sun on the paper plate and ensure it covers the entire sun shape.

You can decorate eclipse glasses by pasting the outer rim of the paper with images of stars or galaxies. Your eclipse glasses are ready to use. When a solar eclipse occurs, hold it up to the sun and look through the lens to observe this special event.

Make Stickers

With some creativity and additional materials, you can turn coloring pages into unique stickers. First, you will print the eclipse images on thick, small-sized paper. The next step is to use markers to brightly color the pictures.

You will cut out each colored detail and attach double-sided tape to the back of each cutout. To ensure the stickers are waterproof and durable, you’ll cover the front of them with a transparent adhesive layer. Finally, when using it, you need to peel off the back layer and stick it on the desired surface, as in the picture below.

Create A Banner

You can create an outstanding banner or poser to respond to the atmosphere of the upcoming solar eclipse event. As with other craft ideas, you will choose coloring pages that feature images of the sun, moon, and earth.

Next, get creative and color the eclipse scenes of your choice. Decide how you want to arrange the images on the banner. You can create a row like the illustration below or use a collage of different shapes and sizes.

Cover construction paper with markers or paint to create a black, purple, or dark blue night sky effect. Cut out the eclipse images and glue them onto construction paper.

Design A Solar Eclipse Hat

Inspired by the magic of a solar eclipse, you can create a unique hat to welcome this astronomical event. You can choose your favorite eclipse images and color them.

Cut a long rectangular strip of paper to create a circle around your head. Then, use a compass to draw a half circle, cut it out, and stick it on the top of the long strip of paper.

At this point, you will get the background for the hat. Now it’s time to glue images of the sun, moon, or other details related to the 2024 solar eclipse onto the hat. A complete hat will have the same shape as the image below. You can also use luminous paint or glitter to create a night sky effect on the hat.
