5 Interesting Activities With Free Printable Kwanzaa Coloring Pages

The activities below not only celebrate Kwanzaa but also provide opportunities for learning, creativity, and community engagement. Feel free to adapt these ideas based on age groups and participant interests.

Create A Kwanzaa Calendar

Creating a Kwanzaa calendar with coloring pages can be a fun and educational way to countdown and celebrate each day of Kwanzaa. First of all, make sure you get the Kwanzaa coloring sheets representing the seven principles.

Once printed, encourage your child to color one page each day before Kwanzaa. Then, cut out the color images from each page and arrange the cutouts in the order of the seven principles.

Number each image or write the corresponding principle on the back. This will help participants follow the sequence leading up to Kwanzaa.

Use cardboard or poster board as the background for your calendar. Cut it into the shape you like and leave space to attach an image.

Tape each color image onto cardstock, making sure to leave enough space between each image for a visually appealing composition. Finally, write the date leading up to Kwanzaa next to each image. You can also add a brief description of the rule relevant to that day.

Punch holes in the top of the calendar and thread ribbon or string through them. This will serve as a hanger for your Kwanzaa calendar. Hang the calendar in a prominent place where everyone can see it.

Make Craft Collage

To start this fun activity, you’ll have your kids print out Kwanzaa-themed coloring pages. Then, cut the images according to your favorite shape.

Take a poster or cardboard as the background for your collage. This will be the foundation for you to organize your Kwanzaa-themed images.

Once you’re happy with the arrangement, glue each image onto the base. Use a glue stick to secure the image in place. Press down gently to ensure a secure connection.

Once the collage is dry, you can display it in your home, share it with friends and family, or use it as a festive decoration during your Kwanzaa celebration.

Design Kwanzaa Cards

This can be a great way to share festive wishes with your friends and family. Look for images that include Kwanzaa symbols.

Have your kids use your favorite coloring tools to add vibrant colors to selected coloring pages. Consider using traditional Kwanzaa colors like red, green, and black to maintain the holiday theme.

You cut the colored images out of the pages. Take cardboard or thick paper and fold it in half to make the base for your Kwanzaa card.

Use a glue stick to adhere the images to the front of the card and write a wish or message inside the card. You can also use Christmas decorations to create a card to celebrate a special upcoming holiday.

Play An Educational Matching Game

This game is both entertaining and educational for all ages. To start, you choose different coloring pages that represent the Kwanzaa festival.

On a piece of paper, write the names of the selected Kwanzaa symbols. On another set, write or draw their respective meanings.

Cut out the colored symbols from the pages and matching cards. Mix them up so the order is random. Place the colored symbols and matching cards face down on a table or flat surface.

Turn over two cards with colored symbols and one card with the same symbol. Try to match the symbol with its exact meaning.

If you find a match, keep that pair and take another turn. If not, turn the cards face down and it’s the next player’s turn.

Hold Coloring Party

This activity will help children connect with family and friends. You’ll invite people to an in-person Kwanzaa coloring party or create a online event. Decorate the space with Kwanzaa-themed decorations.

Use red, green, and black to create a festive atmosphere. Set up a designated coloring area with tables and chairs. Arrange coloring pages, colored pencils, markers, crayons, and other coloring tools on the table.

If you have a guide that explains the Kwanzaa symbols and their meanings, place copies on the table for educational purposes. Consider adding some traditional African or Kwanzaa-inspired dishes.

Get the party started with a brief introduction to Kwanzaa. Let the coloring party begin! Encourage participants to choose coloring pages, create their designs, and enjoy the process. You could even hold a friendly coloring contest with categories like “Most Creative” or “Best Use of Colors.”

The coloring activity becomes a shared experience, creating connection and conversation around the meaning of each principle. Whether it is a group or individual activity at home, these Kwanzaa coloring pages serve as entertainment and educational value for children.

Children have many opportunities to develop their skills and express their interests, and adults have time to bond and create memories with them. So, don’t ignore these small ideas to accompany your child in the development process.

Remind your child of the beautiful things they can see when they color. Remember to share their coloring pages on our Facebook and Pinterest. This is an opportunity for children to be confident and show their skills to everyone.
