Natsume Yuujinchou is a story about Natsume Takashi. Natsume has a secret he has kept for a long time: he can see ghosts. In a time when he accidentally found the Book of Friends (the book that can command youkai) left by his grandmother, Natsume learned why the youkai were always chasing her. Along with Madara, a mighty Ayakashi in the form of a fat cat, Natsume spent his troubled days hoping to return all the names of the youkai so they wouldn’t bother him anymore. Light and meaningful, each story revolves around the relationship between humans and youkai, and as Natsume put it, “Humans or youkai, we’re all the same at heart. That loneliness always scares us”.
