What is the DC League of Super-Pets series?

The DC League of Super-Pets is a new movie about DC Comics characters. The film will be directed by Jared Stern and produced by Sam Register, who also worked together on Wreck-It Ralph Two: Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018). This animated feature stars Ryan Potter as Superman’s dog Krypto, Kate Micucci as Batman’s cat Ace, Halsey as Aquaman’s fish Aqualad, Gal Gadot playing Wonder Woman’s horse Pegasus and more!

Main characters of the series:

Superman’s dog Krypto was one of the first superheroes ever created. He made his debut in Adventure Comics #210 in February 1956. Aqualad was introduced in Adventure Comics #269 in May 1960. He was the first DC Comics character to be adapted into an animated series. Wonder Woman’s horse Pegasus was created by comic book writer and artist Mike Sekowsky and first appeared in Wonder Woman #48 in October 1962. Batman’s cat Ace debuted in Batman #92, published in December 1955. The Flash’s turtle DC Thomson debuted in The Flash #164, published in February 1963. Green Lantern’s Dog Streak debuted in Green Lantern Corps Quarterly #12, published in September 1993. The Martian Manhunter has a pet rabbit named Benny, who first appeared in Detective Comics #225, published in November 1955. The cast of characters in the DC League of Super-Pets is incredibly diverse. In addition to Superman’s dog Krypto and Batman’s cat Ace, there are Aquaman’s fish, Aqualad, Wonder Woman’s horse Pegasus, The Flash’s turtle DC Thomson, Green Lantern’s dog Streak, and the Martian Manhunter’s pet rabbit Benny. Each of these characters has unique superpowers and abilities. For example, Krypto can fly and shoot beams from his eyes, Aqualad can breathe underwater, Pegasus can run at superhuman speeds, DC Thomson can swim fast, Streak can create force fields with his bark, and Benny can transform into any creature he wants.

The plot of the movie:

The DC League of Super-Pets plot is about an evil villain named Dr. Calamity who has assembled a team of superpowered animals to take over the world and kill all humans. The DC League of Super-Pets is the protagonist in this story because they want to stop Dr. Calamity from destroying humanity while protecting their homes and loved ones from danger. Dr. Calamity is one of DC Comics’ most famous villains, so, unsurprisingly, he would be chosen as part of this movie’s cast list! He was created by writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely for their run on New X-Men in 2001; his first appearance came when both men worked together again on the series All-Star Superman. The DC League of Super-Pets antagonists is a team of superpowered animals who work for Dr. Calamity. These villains include an evil gorilla named Grodd, a snake called Copperhead, and a hawk called Harpy. DC Comics has a long history of creating incredible animated movies and TV shows based on their characters. Our favorites include The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, and Teen Titans: Judas Contract.

Fun facts about the main characters & DC League of Super-Pets coloring pages:

Wonder Dog is a heroic German shepherd who possesses superhuman strength and agility. He was once bitten by a radioactive dog, which gave him his powers. Barkman is Wonder Dog’s best friend and sidekick.
Bane is a powerful black cat with razor-sharp claws and teeth. He was initially an ordinary housecat until he was exposed to radiation from a malfunctioning nuclear power plant.

He is assisted by Robin, also known as “The Boy Wonder.” The DC League of Super-Pets was initially created for DC’s kiddie comic books series, DC Kids Club Comics. It ran from 1952 until 1959, when DC decided it would be better suited for adults than children. In the 1960s, DC tried again with another short-lived title, DC Junior Detective Comics (later renamed DC Young Adults).
